The Bryan Brothers sealed the victory today (well, actually yesterday), although the official cup ceremony isn't until tomorrow (well, actually today). Yes, it's the middle of the night, and we just got back from the post office. Had to pay about $2,000 worth of bills, and I didn't need any more late fees on top of the all the other expenses.
Sometimes I wonder how people make due. With gas prices, oil prices, other prices and just the cost of living itself. If I think about it too much, I get in a bad mood. And I'm never
in a bad mood!
A storm is heading this way, and the wind is already starting to howl. I hate that. We were supposed to get snow today, but we didn't. Now the temperature is rising and the wind is coming our way. It's supposed to be really bad on the coast.
A word about Davis Cup: It was amazing to see it all in person. Billie Jean King was there for the coin toss on Friday. Andy played great, although I still see him as an overgrown college player. Occasionally he was so far back, I thought he was returning serve from Vancouver! The two or three times he ventured to the net were unspectacular. But I have to say, his serve registered at 140 or better most of the time. It was amazing. (And James Blake is gorgeous. His eyes are absolutely huge and soulful.)
Our seats were great, even though they were nosebleed. The view was fabulous, and you felt right on top of the court. Gerri and Don were right up front, of course. When we watched the TV coverage, we could see Gerri right behind James, and she was calling out to him. They deserve it, of course, since Don's on the board of the USTA.
I'm still bugged that the big banners outside the Coliseum had all these different players from history but no Agassi. After all, he was part of the winning teams from both '92 and '95. Not sure what that was about . . .
