Posting in the middle of the night, in case we lose power.

Tonight I'm thankful for the place I was born and raised, the place I now choose to call home. The natural beauty is a gift, the climate is near-perfect, and the people and even the politicians are pretty great.

I can't believe there was a time when I was a kid that I dreamed of leaving.

ETA: That climate thing is real, despite the rain and today's freakish snow.

Yeah, we're so lucky to live in Portland, Oregon! Great city and great state. Just a beautiful part of the country.

And it is crazy that we ever thought there'd be another place we'd want to call home! That's part of being young, I guess...

Lucky, lucky us!

yeah . . . it's made a lot of difference in our lives . . . people are truly stamped by the place they live, whether they chose it, or it chose them.

Wow, I hope you have power. I know from experience how horrible it can be to be 'forced' to cope with it.

You hear an Irish fiddle, really? LOL.

I have a bad feeling about this . . . it's like a blizzard, and we're two hours from the 'really bad' stuff. I just knocked snow off all my bushes and we put food out for the birds and squirrels, but I have a feeling it's going to be a long day and night.

(Yep, I was 'watching' -- or listening to -- the movie Blink where Madeline Stowe plays an Irish fiddler. I love that movie. She's such a tough woman, not a typical victim.)
