I didn't write near as much as I needed to today. Tomorrow I'm actually taking a writing break (instead of lunch, of course) and concentrating. (That's between filling out my time tracking for the past five months . . . yikes! I'm taking dvds to play, and shutting my damn door.)
I wanted to be close to 20,000 words by now, but my count is more like 13,000.
Oh, well. Maybe I'll just stay up most of the night and write, since Andre is playing at 3:00 a.m. (in the Masters from Shanghai).
We have a fabulous weather forecast ahead. I hope the good weather lasts into Friday and beyond. (Come Friday I'm off for ten days!)
ETA: Here's an excerpt from the home page of NaNoWriMo: Anyone else feeling very far behind? And I had such big word-count plans for this weekend! Still, throughout the ages, Week Three has marked the beginning of countless come-from-behind NaNo victories. Sweet triumph shall be ours!
I hear:"If I Were the King" (the Cowardly Lion, my favorite)
I hope you never lose your sense of wonder, You get your fill to eat but always keep that hunger, May you never take one single breath for granted, God forbid love ever leave you empty handed, I hope you still feel small when you stand beside the ocean, Whenever one door closes, I hope one more opens, Promise me that you'll give faith a fighting chance, and when you get the chance to sit it out or dance, I hope you dance!
I hope you never fear those mountains in the distance, Never settle for the path of least resistance, Living might mean taking chances, but they're worth taking, Loving might be a mistake, but it's worth making, Don't let some hell-bent heart leave you bitter, When you come close to selling out, reconsider, Give the heavens above more than just a passing glance, And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance, I hope you dance!
