So, I had my first dead Villager today. Poor tribal chief Rachel was just a skeleton when I logged on this morning. What a shock! Wish I'd gacked an image of her (when she was alive).
I was so freaked out, I froze the game. I can't stand the thought of logging on and finding out Bruce is dead. After all, Rachel died of 'old age' at 68, and Bruce is the same age!
So, in thinking about 2008, the best thing I'll remember is finally getting serious about my writing, getting a good start on my novel and getting a plan for publication. Today I spent almost three hours with Angel, talking about our next steps and just motivating each other. He's done a lot of our lists for us, but I have much research still to do. And much writing. Saturday night we'll go to a workshop about finding an agent.
It just seems so possible now. And other things seem less important, so perspective is coming around.
Charlie, Angel and I are starting Our Writing Circle back up, this time with new members. We'll ask Jodi, too. Not sure who else. I'll let Dick and Peter know we're doing it, but I don't expect them to participate.
And in the meantime, I need to go clean my closet (!), vacuum, and write at least one Batman drabble. Sue's bringing Christmas ham over in a while. Maybe after that Charlie and I will go catch a late show of Valkyrie
. Yesterday we finally got our nails done (after nearly three months), got my bedroom cleaned; and then today I finished the bills. Good news! I got a surprise check from the bank in a plain envelope I almost didn't open. Escrow refund! I don't think I've had one of those in five years, at least. Usually I have an escrow shortfall I need to repay around this time of year. What a windfall ~ nice way to end the year.
