Just watched The Dark Knight win several People's Choice Awards, which was great. Christian and Aaron were there, as was Chris Nolan. Here's a place where there's no argument about the winning movie, for godsake.
Last night we lost our huge camelia bush/tree. I had no idea, didn't drive past it this morning and was shocked when Charlie emailed me today. Here are the details and photos in Charlie's journal. Hopefully they can save it! In the meantime, the rain and wind are buffeting us. Our E.D. went home today to pump out his backyard/crawl space, and my parade chairman was planning on being at work at her emergency services job all night tonight. They had a house in their district slide down the hill last week.
So, I finished my (long!) Prestige story on Sunday. I had no idea there was so much in it, but I was pleased with how it turned out (even more twisted than expected). And then I joined a Law&Order drabble community, for some stupid reason, and wrote a New Year's drabble in that fandom. I need to write one more Batman drabble this week, but that community has gone DRY, for some reason. (I refuse to believe this is a flash-in-the-pan fandom.)
I feel good that I'm writing. That's the important thing. But this weekend I must get back to the novel and get it cranked out. I've decided to hold off on the query letter until I do much more.
Shout out to my girl, pb_n_jam! So glad to see her blogging here!
And, finally, after finishing all the puzzles and reaching a population of 50 in my island game, I lost interest. I paused it on Sunday and haven't gone back. (This is probably a good thing. I guess Isola was a port in the storm, so to speak.)
ETA: I forgot to mention that last night we heard one of the most amazing presenters I've ever seen (and I've seen many in my life). The program was offered by Willamette Writers, and the guy was frigging brilliant. Once again I'll borrow from Charlie's blog for more info.
