I actually finished my story for the Wayne/Stark community. Today was the final day for the challenge, and I started the story yesterday. Charlie made a cool banner, and I used 300 words I wrote over a year ago to round the thing out. (I hate wasted words left lying around.)
Well, I didn't get any 'Lancer' written in December, or 'Public Enemies' or even get a good start on my William Evans meets Jack the Ripper story. But at least I met this deadline. And considering I know little or nothing of the pairing, it turned out pretty well.
Yesterday I spent two and a half hours in the tattoo parlor. Well, actually, it was just the nail salon back room, and almost an hour was spent watching Charlie have her brows 'touched up.' I had my eyes re-lined, nine years after the last time. This is the third time in my life I've had this procedure, and I can say, unequivocally, it's the most painful procedure I've ever had. All three times. And that counts having vaginal sutures cut without an anesthetic this year.
You know when you say, "I'd rather stick needles in my eyes?" This is what you mean.
Today my eyes look like I've been bare-knuckle boxing with Sherlock Holmes. (My psychological recovery will definitely take at least six months!)
I'm going to try to do another post later today, but in the meantime we've got to get some more food for the holiday and another bag of ice for the booze.
First things first, as they say!
