Mistress Marilyn's POV
No shit, Tempus Fugit!
Where did January go?
31st-Jan-2010 04:21 pm
So, it's the last day of the month, one of the fastest-moving months in the history of man. Don't ask me where the time went, because I don't have time to find out, hehe.

It's also sister Sue's birthday. Last night we celebrated with a poker party, and it was great fun. Aside from the major faux pas of impulsively buying a half sheet birthday cake on the way to the clubhouse (there were evidently too many desserts), things went very well. I met lots of Sue's cribbage club members that I've only known second-hand 'til now. And I played dealer's choice table poker for the first time in more than ten years, something I've always loved. I invested $10 and came away with $30. Big winner!

I had the crazy idea that since Sue and her daughter are in The Dalles today visiting a friend, they could stop and meet Charlie and me here in Hood River at Starbucks, one of our favorite watering holes. Evidently not. Still, it's a gorgeous day in the Columbia Gorge. The sky is almost completely blue, and the normal east winds (at one point christened 'Coho Winds' by the media) are calm. I'm so glad we decided to take a ride!

First we stopped to tan. We have a big event next Saturday night, and I want to hit the mystic booth one more time this week, since much of my poor white skin will be bared. I tried on my dress from last year's Oregon 150 Ball, and it will do nicely, thank God.

Luckily the Australian Open is over. Ask me how it ended! No, on second thought, skip it. Just spell it P-A-T-H-E-T-I-C. And later maybe I'll give my prediction of whether Andy Murray will ever rise to the big occasion. Suffice it to say he didn't today! Roger still reigns and probably will for some time to come. (Andy, you weren't really crying, were you. Really? This is one area where you do not want to emulate Rog.)

On Friday Angel delivered three books I had mailed to his house (we have a thief in our neighborhood and can't have stuff UPS's of Fed Ex'd or even mailed if we want it to be safe). Anyway, the books came from the Biggest Pimp in the World of Writing, Writer's Digest. And I'm about to bite into 'The Art and Craft of Writing Historical Fiction.' My mouth is watering!

Last week was the busiest one in ages. One day I had seven meetings, one day eight (if you count interviews for our assistant receptionist as 'meetings'). We worked past 7:00pm three nights in a row. To celebrate this industrious week, I'm taking Monday off. The pace is exhausting, and I need to recuperate.

Speaking of exhausting, I finally managed to get to my doctor's appointment this week and have my thyroid test. We'll see if I need medication. And I got a referral for my right shoulder, which is officially 'frozen.' After having gone through rehab'ing the left one three years ago, I feel like I know the drill. Ouch.

The good news is, I'm watching what I eat and working out. I consider that a victory. (Luckily my minor wins are on a much more manageable scale than poor Andy Murray's major losses.)

I am asking myself the same question.

Healthy thoughts for your doctor's appointment.

So happy that you are managing your diet and exercise, wish I could say the same thing about myself. Maybe in March...

Glad you are taking Monday off!

I am amazed they have not set up a simple sting for the robberies in your neighborhood. It is so simple to track packages anymore and know when they are out for delivery etc..

The book sounds good to me since I love historical fiction and wish I could write it myself.

Wonderful that you're staying constant with your diet and exercise. I still intent to do that soon. Lol, any day now.
