We announced a major reorganization today and laid off four people, one that I've worked with on and off for 12 years.
This was hard, and I actually was emotional (after the fact). It's especially hard to have people say nice things about you when they learn you're eliminating their positions. But that's the quality of the people we employ.
(Thank you, Charlie, for being a rockstar volunteer and helping with today's transition.)
Next comes rallying the troops and figuring out the structure of the 'new' organization. This part is a positive challenge to me. As Jeff's out of the office for the next three weeks, this will fall on me. And I'm the right one for that job.
