Mistress Marilyn's POV

Managed to sleep for hours, get up and get partially dressed, then rush to the computer to vote on Challenge 5 of my last author standing group (I'm not going to bother to predict my fate this week, even though out of only seven entries, I don't hold out much hope, hehe). I almost forgot to vote--my bad! Luckily I read the stories and made my notes yesterday, so it only took me another half hour to articulate and research my reasons (yes, even voting is a big deal for me).

Yesterday was a beautiful autumn day (so's today), and we managed to get out for a while, then crashed in the evening. I have to admit I was seriously hung over after the auction. Missed my friend's birthday party last night, which I feel mildly guilty about. Oh, well. There were only two other people there I knew, and I can make it up to him later. Can't help the bad timing.

I *loved* having the auction on Friday. Despite the frantic driving around in rush-hour traffic and the somewhat late start, it all went perfectly. And we couldn't help commenting over and over yesterday (Saturday) that normally we would be on our way to rehearsal or on our way home to change or on our way back to the actual event. Charlie has all the auction details, plus pics, in this entry.

Don't ask what I paid for valet parking at the Marriott, because I don't give a damn. I was not going to walk another block after rushing back and forth in the afternoon.

From what I could track (as I do the whole evening), we did great on the Live and the Appeal. I have no idea how the Silent went, but I know our table sales were above budget, as were single ticket sales. So we should be okay financially. Originally I had guessed we were $10-15,000 down, but things were really cookin' the past couple weeks. Our Korea trip (the one Jeff and I managed to put together) was our second highest live item ever, going for more than $5,000! Jeff and I were high-fiving after that one. And my Twilight package of the books, dvds and lots of cool stuff I buoght in Forks ended up going to my new parade chairman!

Anyway, I feel more than satisfied with the result. I've got some follow-up to do on the personnel side, as we definitely had a bit more drama than necessary this past week. But in the meantime, it's over and I'm happy. Next big project: Annual Meeting, ten days away!
