Mistress Marilyn's POV
No shit, Tempus Fugit!
Woohoo, I Won!

I won Challenge #5 at my Last Author Standing community! I'm dumbfounded and delighted. You just never know what people will like, and this one was a crossover with one of my fave fandoms, The Dark Knight, so it was a bit chancy. Anyway, I started this story for Challenge #2, but then no crossovers were allowed 'til now, so when I finished it, I worked it out to fit with the prompt, 'Making a Stand.' I won with four votes--and no votes against, for once!

Anyway, great way to top off a great day. We drove to the beach and it was beautiful! Played Fascination (regular games), and I won three in a row. Then a couple games later I got a two-way win, a first in all the years I've been playing. Finally we got kicked out for lack of players. We had pizza and beer next door at Fultano's, then played Scat Cat and Skeeball and Ms. PacMan. Oh, and we walked down to the turnaround on the promenade and watched the sunset.

My only regret was not taking my Shilo Inn giftcard and staying overnight!

Overall, it was lovely--a good day to be alive. (Aren't they all?)

First off, CONGRATULATIONS on winning the LAS this time! I'm so pleased for you. (Of course, it WAS a great story -- no doubt about it.) That did make for a great end to a great day.

Wow. It was a GREAT (great, great, great) time at the beach! I'm so glad we decided to go! We ended up with the best of both worlds -- sleeping in and then also getting to go to the beach...

Fascination was fun, even with only a few people playing. But that's a first, being 'kicked out' because they didn't have three people to play! And what a fabulous FIRST -- you winning two ways at once! I loved it. In fact, you were kicking ass at Fascination, with your three games in a row and more. I could barely get on, much less win.

Speaking of, you were kicking my ass at all the games we played! Wasn't that fun getting game cards and just playing a bunch of stuff?

I loved the personal pizzas and beer, too. Great call.

It was a beautiful sunset. And I didn't even mind that it was chilly. In fact, I wouldn't have minded if it had rained. It was a lovely drive to and fro and a perfect autumn beach day.

(Thank you, by the way!)

Yeah, it was a great day to go to the beach. And it was fun coming home to find out I actually won! I'm still shocked, to tell you the truth.

Life is grand, and some days it's even grander.

How wonderful that you finally won in your writing. Good for you, and it sounded like the beach trip was really fun. Sure would have liked to have been with you both.

I was very tired from the long drive home. We got to Dot's around nine. I brought all of my stuff in and took a nap until now. I will talk to you tomorrow. Sue

Yep, we had a nice day, even though we left pretty late. We got to sleep a lot, plus have the nice drive.

Glad your tourney went well. You've got a lot of those right now.

And yeah, I'm still enjoying the Last Author Standing thing, both the writing and the reading and feedbacking. I've got to get our own group going again!
