Whenever we hear the term "innocent victim," here's a face we should remember:

Christina Green, 9.11.2001-1.8.2011

This is a terrible loss...

I listened to her father and I was AMAZED by his reaction...

He said such WONDERFUL things when they spoke to him about his daughter. He called the tragedies of the violent days she was born and died as bookends, but not the book of her life!

And he also said, "We're going to remember her for the nine years we had her... This shouldn't happen in this country, or anywhere else, but in a free society, we're going to be subject to people like this. I prefer this to the alternative."

To be able to be so reasonable and think so clearly at such a time impresses me deeply.

Thanks for sharing this, Marilyn...

I agree, her father's reaction was full of clarity and reason and I was very impressed too,Charlie! I also liked his analogy of the "violent" bookends that, while they are there, don't overshadow the "book" in between that was her precious 9-year life.

I got all teary-eyed listening to him,and couldn't help but think of my own children, especially my two girls who "bookend" Christina in age,and was sure to hug them doubly tight this morning before I took them to school. Times like these remind us how precious life is,that is for sure.

I've been deeply sad since it happened.

I concur,Marilyn.

This has particularly touched me because I have two girls who "bookend" beautiful little Christina in age,and my heart goes out to her entire family, particularly her poor brother, and I pray God will swiftly heal his young, heavy heart. I was imagining Shawn's reaction if he lost either of his little sisters,so I can imagine her brother is absolutely devastated. :(

My heart goes out to everyone affected by this entire tragedy, and hope in the wake of this we learn something from it as well.
