Nice vacation . . .

What a nice week off it's been.

We went to Wildlife Safari (with Sue) on Monday. It was an all-day event, and the weather was perfect. The animals were mostly tired out, but the deer, Watusi cattle and the giraffes were up and around. Then we went to Seven Feathers casino (of course) for 'a little' gambling. I ended up missing For Love or Money 2, and I can't find out what happened from Ryan Beaches, because he's still on vacation with Peter.

Speaking of that, it sounds like it's going well from what I read in Peter's journal, but I can't wait to hear more details.

I'm using my new Britney icon (from her photo on Elle magazine). Thanks, Charlie! (I've now credited all my icons with their wonderful authors.)

We stayed overnight at the coast on Thursday (with Sue, again). It was nice, very mild. But we didn't really get a chance to do much, because I had to go to my manicure/pedicure late, and we didn't get out of town until after 5:00 p.m. We got home by 1:00 or so yesterday.

I've continued to eat and not work out, so I'm going to have to turn things around this week. I think I've gotten a good amount of rest, though. And I haven't obsessed about work (although I started dreaming about it this morning).

Things have been so strange at work. Several board members have decided to make a case against the staff, and it's very disheartening considering how hard we've worked the past two years, the salary freeze and the layoffs. I have to just shrug it off in a way, but in another way it's an important lesson to me. Some things never really change, and you can't take anything for granted.

My major medical tests last month are going to cost me. My insurance only pays two thirds, meaning I have now racked up more than $700 in medical bills and it's only a couple months into the medical year calendar. I've already used up my pre-paid medical and I haven't even gotten to surgery yet!

Well, hopefully I won't have any big dental issues this year.

The Teen Choice Awards were pretty good this year. I loved seeing American Idol and Kelly win, and I wish they would have televised Simon's win. Some of it was stupid and gross, as usual, but overall I enjoyed it. I could go a year without seeing Adam Sandler, Jim Carey and gross reality TV moments, but I suppose I'm asking a little too much here.

Joey's been around a lot this week, as he got some time off, too. He's been writing fic and posting at some of the lists, and I love seeing that. He's so talented; he shouldn't waste his gift for the written word.

It's been a beautiful, mild week while I've been off. We even had one day with a major thunder storm, and it was nice, really. The rain felt great after weeks of dry weather. Our backyard is looking good, although the grass has really dried out. Most of the flowers have done okay. We haven't done all that much barbequing or even eating outside, but it's still enjoyable to be outside when you feel like it.

Thanks, Nik, for the fabulous Christina (Dirrty) icon. I'll use it next time around!

Hope all my friends are doing well and enjoying this last half of the summer.
