Mistress Marilyn's POV
No shit, Tempus Fugit!
Goodbye 2003!

luv ya--marilyn monroe: charliemc
Well, 2003 is nearly over. Just wanted to take a moment to reflect, since I haven't written in so long.

Wish I were feeling well and was in Las Vegas, terrorist threats or no. Next year I'm going to be there for New Year's -- and that's a plan! What a way to end and start a year.

(There's supposedly a big party at the Voodoo lounge -- what a great place that would be to watch the fireworks. Wouldn't be shabby to be at Ryan's party, either, wherever he ends up after his show.)

Well, 2003: What a year!

I ran my first half-marathon.

I became the (interim) Executive Director, and got my first real employment contract. Naturally, that was because my boss left. And then last month, Ligaya unexpectedly left.

We went to war. We had multiple protests here in town.

Sampras retired.

Ruben was the American Idol, but Clay was the run-away success.

One reality-TV romance ended in marriage.(!)

Britney came out with a new cd.

Leo and Johnny got engaged!

BSB got back together (maybe).

We had snow for New Year's Eve!

Charlie had her surgery (finally).

I didn't have surgery.

Joey got a promotion.

Kevin did fabulous things with the website.

I met Carrie!

I started reading again. Highlight: "In Cold Blood," a masterpiece. I can't believe what a wonderful writer Truman Capote was!

We met Kit and Alex!

We had a lot of struggles at work -- and we're still struggling -- but we're making it.

Great music: Kelly, Jessica Simpson, Britney, Christina (from last year), Justin (from last year), Nick (from last year), Clay, Ruben, Chingy, American Idol love songs, Beyonce, Fountains of Wayne, Nick Lachey, Hilary, Eminem (from last year). Only saw a couple concerts: Justin and Chritina and American Idols.

We have so many things to be thankful for. I started a list at Thanksgiving, but never finished it. Mostly, we have a great life and we're very happy. And we know how lucky we are -- and we talk about it all the time.

So, even though 2003 had its ups and downs, it was another great year.

Much love to all my friends on line. I hope everyone has a wonderful and safe New Year!

And God bless, Sugar--both you and Charlie.

You inspire me with the way you're always talking 'bout the things you're thankful for in life. Lots of folks have gripes, but you have this tendency to number even the bad things in life as being good--and I admire the hell out of that.

I hope I can be more and more like you, honey. And that's a plan.

(Maybe we should plan to meet a second time in Vegas for New Year's Eve 2004--what do you say?)

I feel honored to be counted among the 'good things' you've listed this year. Feel free to kick my ass as hard as you like if I don't keep it up!

Love and hugs from Kris and me,
