I'm having fun at the Judy Bolton list at Yahoo Groups. Judy Bolton was the thinking girl's Nancy Drew back in the first half of the 20th Century, a realistic version of the girl detective. I've been lurking at the list for some time, but I finally jumped into the discussion, and it's such a friendly, mature group. And it gave me an excuse to re-read 'The Haunted Attic' last week, a great children's book that was handed down to us by our mom. (The dedication on the front cover reads, "Gloria, from Mildred & Ethel, 1935." That was when my mom was 11 years old!)
In the meantime, I've been watching a little of FX's telecast of 'S.W.A.T.' between surfing sessions to the tennis and whatever else interests me. I can't tell if there was anything extra (yeah, I should know it all by heart, but I missed a lot of the pivotal scenes), but it looks surprisingly good on TV. Makes me think of the past year of my Gamble/Street obsession and how much I've enjoyed it and enjoyed meeting a few people who feel the same. (Love you, guys!)
Tennis: Blake managed to win again today, but Kiefer lost. Too bad about that.
I hope you never lose your sense of wonder, You get your fill to eat but always keep that hunger, May you never take one single breath for granted, God forbid love ever leave you empty handed, I hope you still feel small when you stand beside the ocean, Whenever one door closes, I hope one more opens, Promise me that you'll give faith a fighting chance, and when you get the chance to sit it out or dance, I hope you dance!
I hope you never fear those mountains in the distance, Never settle for the path of least resistance, Living might mean taking chances, but they're worth taking, Loving might be a mistake, but it's worth making, Don't let some hell-bent heart leave you bitter, When you come close to selling out, reconsider, Give the heavens above more than just a passing glance, And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance, I hope you dance!
