Happy 4th of July!

I can't believe it's already the 4th of July, one of my favorite holidays! We're going to Leslie's later; otherwise it's business as usual, planning on enjoying our backyard and our friends (and the best of the fireworks they show on TV).

We also got a *huge* box of fireworks, so we'll do some of our own.

Joey and I are going to work on his 'Hart's War' fic and try to get it finished today if we can fit it in. Charlie and I are beta'ing, and he seems obsessed with it. It's nice to see him so excited about a story -- and actually sticking with it!

Charlie and I went to the Molalla Buckeroo Barbeque contest yesterday. Rich is the event manager, and he wanted people to come. Man, it's a two-hour roundtrip, although it's certainly a beautiful spot for the event. All the firepits are sprinkled throughout a great stand of tall oaks. We had a couple new cds of patriotic music that we played going and returning, so it was a nice ride.

That's the most barbeque I've eaten in years! (And we've got another cookout today. Yikes.)

And at Wimbledon, all the women who were supposed to win did. (This is certainly a terrible year for the Americans at Wimbledon.)

Finally, for all of the Americans on my flist, Happy Independence Day!
