Missed Kelly's birthday yesterday, and I felt bad about it, except that I didn't want to party too hard (and I would have if I had gone out with the girls) and we were at the beach and having a wonderful day. I called her a couple times, and I'll have to take her to lunch this week. The Oregon Coast rarely sees days so warm and beautiful, and it was packed in Seaside. (Biker convention -- wow, all the amazing Harleys and all the leather! I even bought a leather vest.) And we played tons of Fascination, on top of enjoying our favorite clam chowder place.
Rafa comported himself very well in the final today. He should have won that second set, and then who knows what would have happened. As it was, I was happy he got a set and happy he broke back once in the fourth. I was worried after the opening set blowout. (And I loved the low-five between Rafa and Roger during the trophy ceremony. Wonderful!)
Anyway, on to the wonderful U.S. hardcourt season, my favorite tennis time of the year. We'll see what happens at the U.S. Open.
Gotta do bills today and get my head ready to go back to work tomorrow. The bad news: This is a killer week upcoming, with lots of auction work to do, the Coronation wrapup meeting, flash reports due on Thursday (!) and Pinnacle Award entries due next Tuesday. The good news: I start my four-day-a-week schedule now. And, it's summer.
Gotta mention in here how thrilled I am with FatJoey's 'Hart's War' fanfic, Tommy's Peace
. It was a long time coming, but it was worth it. ETA:
We 'played tennis' today, and it was the first time for me in three years or so! Woohoo!
