Mistress Marilyn's POV
No shit, Tempus Fugit!
Auction countdown . . .
5th-Oct-2006 11:54 pm
I've been completely engrossed in auction prep for the past couple of weeks. Now we have less than 48 hours to go. And everything is so prepared. It seems like we've gotten it down to a science, and I only have a couple more things to do for my part. I've never worked harder on the script and auction cards. After 5:00 today I heard from the mayor's office, and now he's planning to stay for the whole thing, which is a big victory. I'm going to enjoy listening to him give the speech I wrote, because I've never written a speech for the mayor before.

I'm completely optimistic about the results. I'm expecting good things.

And I'm thrilled to be wearing Pat's tuxedo! I bought the thing for $30 at Pat and Pat's yard sale in the Columbia Gorge, and today I found the perfect bustier to dress up the vest. And even the pants work well, even though they're a little big. I have my $18 felt fedora from Hot Topics, and I decorated that with a broach from the Pirate Festival.

I love dressing up!

In the meantime, I'm fighting all the germs in the house. The cats are pretty much well, but Charlie is still terribly sick. Hopefully she can get through the auction and enjoy herself.

And I haven't played tennis in over a week!

Today was another gorgeous Indian Summer day, 73 degrees, with sun highlighting the leaves turning orange and red everywhere. I actually got out of the office twice, once to run to Target and get the bustier, once to go to a meeting at our website company. On November 1 we'll launch the Centennial website, including my Centennial blog. I'm so ready for that!

And we've started a small writing group, four of us (including Charlie) who are going to exchange 2,000 words a month. So, NaNoWriMo is less than a month away, I'm about to start an official blog for work *and* I have a new writing initiative. Hope I can keep up.

I'm pissed at myself that I didn't keep a record of things that have gone on since the end of my vacation, including a trip to the doctor's office that included a weigh-in (something I avoid like the plague). I have a lot of work to do physically, on top of all the writing!

And, I'm doing a little reading. I'm still working on 'Hart's War,' I'm about halfway through 'Bravehart,' re-reading 'The Persian Boy,' and today on impulse I bought 'The Hidden Diary of Marie Antoinette.' I'm sure I'll love it, since I've had a fascination with her from high school.

Most of all, I'm determined to keep this journal going. It doesn't take that much effort, and I'll be glad I did.

You know, I loved seeing that 'hopeful' Andre moodtheme! It really made me smile... (heh)

Glad to see you posting. I hate when you're too busy to keep it up. (I understand when you're too busy, but I still hate it...)

I love your auction outfit and can't wait to see you dressed in the entire thing! (The new corset thing with roses is fabulous, by the way.)

The auction is going to be GREAT. I'm delighted the mayor is attending. And it's a big kick that you've written the speech he's going to give! (Oh, the power. Seriously.) Can you believe he plans to stay for the whole thing? Amazing as hell.

I love the letter you wrote for president Leslie, by the way! Great job. You're such a good writer...

Nice to see you doing all this reading lately, too. Go you!

That 'Hidden Diary' novel looks good...

Thanks, by the way, for being so sweet and understanding with me all this time that I've been sick. I'm sure it must be annoying as hell. (And disgusting, too.) I can't wait to be over it.

But even if I'm still sick on Saturday, I wouldn't miss the auction for the world! It's going to be wonderful. (And a lot of that is due to you!)

Hey? Don't you just love your new kitten???

I'd love to know what keeps you journaling here. I've often gotten discouraged, feeling naked out in the world with no breath of wamth in the void. Thanks for sharing your happy life. It renews my spirit.
